Ninuvinā gati gāna jagāna in the rāga Kalyāni is a composition of Subbaraya Shastry (1803 – 1862).

Subbaraya Shastry is the son Shyama Shastry, one of the well-known trinities of music.

Subbaraya Shastry has a unique distinction of learning music from Saint Tyagaraja, Shayama Shastry and Muthuswamy Dikshitar. In his works, the influence of Tyagaraja’s bhāva, Shyama Shastry’s Chitta-svarams and Muthuswamy Dikshitar’s slow tempo could be observed among the other features.

Balamuralikrishna has aptly adopted these trinity aspects of the composer to present this rare composition in all vivid details.

An excerpt from a live concert held on 30th December 1966 in Madras.

Dr. Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna (BMK)  is accompanied on the violin by Sri. M S Gopalakrishnan and on the mridangam by Sri. Tanjore Upendran. ( Information on accompanying artistes is as published and may not be accurate).
