There are approximately 7.2 million Canadian francophones in Canada today as per 2016 Canadian Census.
Of course, that's coming to 10 years ago, so the number of French people in Canada must have increased since.
Canada.ca estimates eight million French speakers in Canada in 2023.
But it is statistically safe to estimate nearly 10 million people speak French in Canada by 2024(which is a significant number).

Of that 622,415 francophones are in Ontario - the largest Francophone minority community in Canada outside of Québec. That number also based on a 2016 Census out of Statistics Canada. So it must be nearing 1 million by now (2024). That accounts for over 22% of Canadians who speak French as their first official language.

Interestingly, in Quebec the proportion of people who speak French as their first official language fell by 1.5% between 2016 and 2021.

Interesting fact :

There still a French speaking island in Canada - .Saint-Pierre and Miquelon (now a self-governing territorial overseas unit of France) is
the only remaining last French territory piece of France's North American colony. Though they are quite distinct from Newfoundland they are are closely entwined, making them a must visit item list. Together with the Burin Peninsula in Eastern Newfoundland, they make a main contributor to the tourism industry in that part of Canada.
