Comparing a B1 and B2 Visas: Business and Tourist Travel to the US

Heading to the US for business? Knowing the difference between a B1 and B2 visa can help make your trip a success.

Here is the difference between a B1 and B2 visa. A B1 and a B2 visa are two types of non-immigrant visas issued by the U.S. government. Here are the main differences between the two.

The B1 visa is a business visa issued to people who plan on traveling to the U.S. for business purposes. For example, they come to the U.S. to negotiate a contract or attend a business conference or meeting. The B1 visa is usually a single or multiple entry visa and each period of entry is usually valid for six months.

The B2 visa, on the other hand, is usually issued by the U.S. government to people who plan on visiting the U.S. for tourism or pleasure. For example, sightseeing or participating in tourism events. This visa can also be issued as a single or multiple entry visa and each entry is usually valid for six months. Violating the terms of these visas can lead to revocation and you can be barred from re-entering the U.S. in the future.
