The Flat 9 is an essential component of the jazz language for improvising on dominant chords. Jazz saxophone instructor, Randy Hunter, from https://beginningsax.com explains a common dominant flat 9 passage and how it is used chordal resolutions and in ii-V-I chord progressions.

A perpetual pattern for practicing this passage through the keys around the Circle of Fourths is also explained.

You'll find this passage used by many great jazz musicians, including Hank Mobley, Sonny Stitt, John Coltrane, and Scott Hamilton.

No transposition is required for tenor sax, alto sax, or concert pitch instruments, so regardless of your axe, you'll be able to take this pattern directly to the practice room.
