Note from Mikey: "It's not as it seems in the video. I didn't leave the Sherpa to die. I took his radio and called up to our Sherpa leadership to inform them of the terrible situation developing. I was told to keep descending by Mingma, who was only 100m above us, and with a very conflicted heart I did. A few rope lengths later, my Sherpa reappeared and passed me without a word and left me alone for the 2nd time. Apparently, a client had to kick him with crampons several times to shock him into action. I was happy he was going down.
At the summit I called for my bottle of oxygen. I didn't ask the Sherpa to carry it up for me, nor did I think it was a good idea - always carry your own oxygen for safety. He insisted persistently on carrying my oxygen so he could be a "good/strong Sherpa" - I let him, big mistake. My Sherpa was being a poor guide and wasn't climbing next to me, he went far ahead after the balcony. I ran out of oxygen at the South Summit and didn't get to my Sherpa until the summit. I could have died without oxygen, so I was a little upset with Dendi - "Dendi, where are you, I need my oxygen!". Always carry your own oxygen supply.
My Sherpa decided to not use oxygen after reaching the summit, despite the fact that I paid for his oxygen supply. He was going to resell the bottles. He put himself, myself, and the rest of his teammates in extreme danger. He was a rogue employee. He won't be hired again.
Nobody forces Sherpas to climb Everest. They choose to climb it on their own. THEY call me all the time to come to Nepal and climb with them.
Everest is real."
