HOW TO MAKE FRIED POI MOCHI | Sally Funakoshi

Learn how to make Hawaiian style fried poi mochi.  Follow these easy steps and you'll have a delicious batch of crispy and chewy poi mochi bites!  This is one of my top favorite desserts, a must try!

Recipe in my video will make 2 dozen mochi bites
Ingredients:
1/2 lb. Poi
2/3 cup Granulated Sugar
8 oz. (half box) Mochiko Sweet Rice Flour
1/3-1 cup Water
3-4 cups Oil

Combine poi, granulated sugar and mochiko flour.  Mix well and remove any lumps.  Add a little water at a time to thin out the batter until the consistency is comparable to thick pancake batter.  It should still be able to run off our spoon.  Prepare oil on medium heat.  Once your oil is hot enough, drop ping pong ball size of your poi mochi mixture.  Fry in small batches to avoid them sticking to each other.  Allow the mochi to crispy up on both sides until golden brown (6-8 minutes).
