wolf vs kangal dog - wolf kills sheep In this video we will see how an alone wolf is eating its meal and  the kangal dogs standing around aren't brave enough to attack the wolf. According to some reports the wolf was feeding on one of the kangal dogs. But no one knows for sure as the image isn't clear. A myth being spun on different online platforms that kangal can take down more than one wolf single handedly doesn't seem to be as true as it's been propagated. Kangals are some of the best guard dogs don't take me wrong but they are no match for a pack of hungry wolves. The main purpose of guard dogs such as kangals is to make the owner aware of the apporaching danger and keep the wolves at a bay till the time owner comes and shoot them. Wolves attack on livestock aren't uncommon in the rural areas of Turkey and have been costing the farmers a lot. The wolf behavior known as surplus killing is something that is very costly. The wolves will kill maximum number of sheep in surplus killing.  It is not, as it appears, killing for "fun" or for "sport" as it is often mischaracterized.

Surplus killing occurs when wolves find particularly vulnerable prey and exploit the situation.  Wolves jumping into a pen full of sheep is a perfect example of when and how this would occur. When people come across surplus kill sites it can be very disturbing and has the potential to contribute to the bad reputation of wolves.  However, if these kill sites were left alone what cameras would record is that the wolves & other scavengers would repeatedly visit the area, sometimes feeding, sometimes carrying off pieces of the carcasses, until all the dead animals were completely consumed.
