Managing Asthma

As a part of the Creating Asthma Friendly Learning environments through Ryan’s Law (www.ontario.ca/laws/statute/15r03) and Policy/Program Memorandum 161 - Supporting Children and Students with Prevalent Medical Conditions (anaphylaxis, asthma, diabetes, and/or epilepsy) in Schools (www.edu.gov.on.ca/extra/eng/ppm/ppm161.pdf) this video, provides the recommended ways to manage student asthma attacks that occur during school. As well as knowledge on the types of medication that can be used during an asthma attack depending on the circumstances. After viewing this video, all school staff are encouraged to participate in Ophea’s Implementing Ryan’s Law and PPM 161: Ensuring Asthma Friendly Schools e-Learning module ( www.ophea.net/professional-learning/e-learning) Ophea's Asthma Education Initiative includes free resources designed to increase the skills and knowledge of educators, instructors and coaches about asthma management in schools and various children and youth focused environments.
