Traffic Department's Vigilant Efforts Yield Over 2,000 Cases in One Week.

Over the past week, from December 17 to December 23, 2023, the Traffic Department, spanning all Regional Police Divisions, has demonstrated unwavering dedication in ensuring road safety, resulting in a total of 2,089 cases made. These efforts aim to enhance public safety and curb traffic violations during the festive season.

Breakdown of Cases:

Speeding Violations: 633 cases
Driving Under the Influence (DUI): 43 cases
Regional Division Highlights:
Regional Division 4C emerged as the leader in cases made during this period, totaling 751. Notably, the division recorded the highest number of cases in a single day, with 366 incidents reported on Friday, December 22nd.

Regional Division 3 took the lead in DUI cases, accounting for 24 instances, including 15 cases on Saturday, December 23 alone.

Educational Initiatives:
In addition to enforcement actions, the Traffic Department has undertaken extensive educational initiatives to promote responsible road use. Ten lecture sessions for drivers and eight sensitization sessions at bars and restaurants have been conducted. Daily radio messages, weekly live programs on NCN, and the provision of safety tips via HJ, Radio Eve Leary, and various media houses have contributed to creating a more informed public.

The distribution of bumper stickers continues as part of an ongoing effort to reinforce road safety awareness.

Special Traffic Arrangements:
To accommodate the increased festive season activities, the Traffic Department implemented special traffic arrangements along Regent Street and key areas in each Regional Police Division. These measures aim to support shoppers, vendors, public transportation providers, pedestrians, and motorists, ensuring a safety-first approach for all.

The Traffic Department appreciates the cooperation of the public and urges continued adherence to road safety regulations for the well-being of all road users.
