Looking for things to do in Zagreb? In this Zagreb, Croatia city tour, we visit Zagreb's best sights. From cannons and underground tunnels to the shortest funicular in the world, Zagreb is full of fantastic attractions.
For breakfast we visited Otto and Frank. It is on the famous Tkalciceva Street in the heart of Zagreb. We got French toast and the Zagreb breakfast, crispy poached eggs on toast.
After breakfast, we visited the Zagreb Cathedral. This Catholic church is the second tallest building in Croatia. Its spires can be seen throughout the city.
The next stop on our Zagreb walking tour was Lotrščak Tower. Every day at noon, the Grič cannon is fired from the tower. This is quite an experience, so be sure to get there a few minutes before 12:00 pm.
Very close to Lotrščak Tower is an area called Plato Gradec. This is one of the best places for excellent views of Zagreb.
On the other side of Lotrščak Tower is Strossmayer Promenade. This road leads to Grič Park and Grič Tunnel.
Grič Tunnel was a bomb shelter, but it is now a pedestrian tunnel under the neighborhood of Grič.
After having some fun exploring Grič Tunnel, we made our way to the Zagreb Funicular. This is one of the shortest funiculars in the world. Funicular rides happen every 10 minutes and only cost 5 kuna ($.72)
From the funicular, we headed toward St. Mark's Church. The Church of St. Mark is famous for its tiled roof. The roof has the emblem of Zagreb and the medieval coat of arms of Croatia, Dalmatia, and Slavonia.
For lunch, we highly recommend Konoba Didov San. This traditional Croatian tavern serves delicious Croatian food in a cozy atmosphere.
The last stop on our Zagreb, Croatia walking tour was at the Museum of Broken Relationships. Zagreb is known to have quirky museums, so we wanted to check this one out. It is a museum that showcases stories and artifacts from failed relationships.
We truly enjoyed Zagreb's attractions!
