The man taken in for questioning by police in connection with the raging fire in Parliament has been arrested.
Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure Patricia de Lille in a briefing said that according to police, the man was arrested in Parliament.
She said the reason the sprinklers didn't work was because someone closed the valves.
At 17:00 firefighters were still struggling to bring the blaze under control. “The situation remains fluid. It's extremely humid. We have firefighters are still busy in the National Assembly," City of Cape Town fire services chief Jermaine Carelse said.
