The robot, named Kuavo, is being validated at Nio and Jiangsu Hengtong Group factories. Kuavo uses Huawei's Pangu large model and can be used in industrial and family scenarios.
Kuavo debuted at Huawei's HDC 2024 developer conference on June 21. Huawei Cloud CEO Zhang Pingan showcased its potential in various settings. Nio's vehicles are assembled at its highly automated F1 and F2 plants in Hefei, Anhui province.
Nio is one of the few carmakers exploring humanoid robots for vehicle assembly. UBTech Robotics' Walker S robot also trained at Nio's factory, performing quality inspections and logo affixing. In 2023, Nio formed a humanoid robot squad for tasks like quality control and multitasking with 5G and vision algorithms.
