The Bhagavad Gita or "Song of God" is the most widely studied Hindu scripture (shastra), giving it the status of being the Hindi Bible. It's eighteen chapters are an excerpt of the great epic, Mahabharata, that records the battle (yuddha) between the Pandavas and Kauravas. Shri Krishna, an avatara or incarnation of Lord Vishnu, become the charioteer (sarathi) for the mighty Pandava warrior, Arjuna, and gives him spiritual guidance based on the teachings of the sages of ancient India (rishis) while on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. Many topics central to the non-dual teachings of advaita Vedanta are included in this guidance, including: Krishna arjuna geeta sanjaya dhritarashtra duryodhana ayodhya dharma vedanta vyasa bhagvad bhagwad geetha mahabharata mahabharat arjun sanjay duryodhan vyas vishada sankhya karma yoga sannyasa moksha meditation dhyana dhyan jnana vijnana vibhuti brahma brahman vishvarupa vishwarupa vishwaroop guna daiva asura purushottama shraddha kshetra kshetrajna akshara.
