The Sermon on the Mount
The Sermon on the Mount is the foundation of Christ's basic teachings and may be considered his core scripture. In these classes Swami Prabhavananda shows how Christ's teachings mirror Vedanta Philosophy. This is the first of 12 classes.
Swami Prabhavananda was a disciple of Maharaj Swami Brahmananda, the spiritual son of Sri Ramakrishna. These classes were given at the Hollywood or Santa Barbara Vedanta Temples.
Swami P (as his disciples called him), came to the US in the 1920s, initially as an assistant minister at the San Francisco Vedanta Temple, then in 1930 he established The Vedanta Society of Southern California in Hollywood. Branch Centers were established later in Santa Barbara, where this lecture took place, and Trabuco Canyon in Orange County.
Swami gave up the body on July 4th, 1976.
