Croissant is really the pinnacle of baking. It's every bakers dream and nightmare at the same time, no matter if you are professional baker or just bake for fun at home. Since I am just a Chef, I was just as scared of baking Croissant as you. But after I tried I few recipes, I found this slightly simplified Classic Croissant recipe. And you know what?! - It just works! I tried a view times and each time was more or less a success. But even the worst tries were better than what you get at the bakery!
