كانت منطقة الاناضول وسوريا التاريخية الممتدة بين الفرات والبحر المتوسط جزءا من العالم الهلنستي الذي يشمل ايضا جزر قبرص وكريت والارخبيل اليوناني في بحر ايجة والقسم الجنوبي من شبه جزيرة البلقان اي دولة اليونان حاليا ومناطق تراقية ومقدونيا بالاضافة الى مستوطنات يونانية عديدة في البحر الاسود والبحر المتوسط.
The historical region of Anatolia and Syria, stretching between the Euphrates and the Mediterranean Sea, was part of the Hellenistic world, which also includes the islands of Cyprus, Crete, the Greek archipelago in the Aegean Sea, the southern part of the Balkan Peninsula, present-day Greece, the regions of Thracia and Macedonia, in addition to many Greek settlements in the Black Sea and the Mediterranean.
