How to use a mixing
How to use a mixing desk - A lot of people will buy a mixing desk then wonder how to use it, or already own a desk and want to expand on how to use it. In this video i'll explain how to use a two different mixing desks, the Mackie 24 8, 24 channel 8 buss mixing desk, and the Behringer Xenyx 2442 mixing desk. Both of these are great mixers.
Don't be put off by the size of a mixing desk. You only need to learn one channel and that's it. They just route signal to wherever you need it, so you can have one mix being recorded and listen to another mix while the band hear something else.
If you're not familiar with mixing desks, this introduction should help explain some of the basic functions. From inputs, to aux sends and returns, through the eq to sending to subgroup busses and the main mix.
At a high level, a mixing desk just routes audio around. you can add a bit of EQ to every channel that runs through it, you can send the signal through external effects to add things such as reverb, you can Insert external outboard such as compressors and you can send different mixes to different places. Use Live or in the studio, there are many benefits to having a mixing desk or mixing console.
