Need to review (or cram) for the AP English Lit exam this year? I've got you covered! All the notes are here in the description box.

Top Tips
- Be specific (read closely, give details, etc.)
- Read poetry like prose and vice versa
- Read every question carefully
MCQ (terms etc.)
- Don’t discount simpler answers
- Partly wrong = all wrong (MC)
- Roman numeral T/F, THEN choose answer
- Terms:
o Irony
o Hyperbole
o Connotation
o Allusion
o Juxtaposition
o Satire
o Invective
o Aphorism
o Prolepsis
o Synesthesia
o Bildungsroman
o Imagery
Essays
- Be readable
- Be specific
- Use organization (paragraphs)
- Start with a hook (don’t rephrase the prompt)
- Make your thesis statement obvious
- Answer the entire question (don’t forget the “overall meaning” part)
- Quote evidence if the passage is provided
- Avoid summary
- Explain why your specific comments and observations matter
- Use your prepared works for the Open Question, not the listed works
o Review the turning point scenes in depth
o Know names and order of events
