2005 330cd turbo squealing, whining

2005 330cd turbo squealing, whining between 1500 and 2000rpm. I can't figure out what it is. The car drives fine but sat  in traffic or driving through town the noise is driving me mad. I love the normal turbo whistle. But this started doing this after being driven hard.
