The grilled Mochi (chewy Japanese rice cake), is quite a common street food found in Taiwan though Mochi originated from Japan. It is known as Yaki Mochi in Japan. The mochi is roasted on charcoal, is consistently flip to prevent it from sticking onto the grill. Once it bloats up and has a charred surface, it is remove from the heat source and drizzled with either sweet sauce like condensed milk and shaved peanut or savoury condiments such as salt, pepper or chili flakes.
