The remains of an 1142 Castle | Germanelo Castle

In this week's episode, we are visiting and exploring the ruins of "Castelo de Germanelo". Ordered to build in 1142 by D. Afonso Henriques, the history of this castle is sort because year after it was built, the castle lost its strategic importance. It was abandoned in the 14th century. In 2000 the castle was bought by Professor Salvador Dias Arnault that restored the north wall of the ruined castle. New the castle belongs to the city council.
