The Telecommunications Bill 2023 is
The Telecommunications Bill 2023 is likely to be tabled in Parliament today. As per the new bill, the Centre will have power to waive off entry fees, licence fee, availability or continuity of telecom networks, and more.
The Bill, which was cleared in August, aims to replace the 138-year-old Indian Telegraph Act. Earlier, the Bill draft had internet-based audio-video calls under its ambit. However, as per reports, WhatsApp, Zoom, Skype, etc. are excluded from the new Bill.
