Zimbabwe's Military Commander Joins ZANU PF Politburo: General Sibanda's Unexpected Political Transition

President Mnangagwa made significant appointments during the 20th ZANU PF Annual National People's Conference in Gweru, with the most notable being the inclusion of General Philip Valerio Sibanda, the Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF), as an ex-officio member of the ZANU PF Politburo.

In his closing remarks at the conference, President Mnangagwa underscored the importance of filling the vacancy left by the late Cde Joshua Teke Malinga, who had served as the Secretary for People with Disabilities in the Politburo. To succeed him, Cde Rose Mpofu from Matabeleland South province was appointed to the position.
