Malaysia reported 17,045 new Covid-19 infections on July 25, 2021, the nation’s highest single-day toll since the start of the pandemic, bringing its overall numbers to 1.01 million infections and 7,994 deaths. Despite an accelerating vaccination rate in the Southeast Asian country, Malaysia has been struggling to contain a surge of cases blamed on the highly contagious Delta coronavirus variant.
