It is the setting for much of the story. Daguanyuan is an urban park located in Beijing's Xuanwu district. Unlike most parks in the city, it has no historical roots; it was created from scratch between 1984 and 1989 for a CCTV filmed series based on the novel Dream of the Red Pavilion by Cao Xueqin. It has since become one of Beijing's top tourist attractions. The park was created exactly based on descriptions of a fictional garden appearing in the pages of Cao Xueqin's novel. It covers an area of 110,000 sq. m, of which 24,000 sq. m are occupied by water bodies. It contains more than 40 different structures: pavilions, bridges, a Buddhist temple, as well as a hotel and restaurant. The entire park is surrounded by a wall, while two stone lions, carved by artists from Hebei Province, are set up at the main gate[3]. It is home to more than 2,000 different species of flowers and trees "Dream of the Red Chamber", one of the four great classical Chinese novels, describes the Grand View Garden as "a place where mountains and water are built to be refined, and where all the scenes of heaven and earth are prepared". The gorgeous Yihong courtyard is magnificent; The elegant Xiaoxiang Pavilion is surrounded by a bunch of green bamboo-like Phoenix tails; The rich and noble Chenwu courtyard is covered with strange stones; The simple rural family style in Daoxiang village. In the Grand View Garden, there are double towers with upturned corners, heavy buildings and high eaves, pavilions, and pagodas, all of which are exquisitely carved, with the style of royal gardens and the beautiful style of Jiangnan gardens.
