When your baby is born after having fetal surgery, families often wonder what’s next. Follow-up care is very important for children born with spina bifida. At Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, all healthcare professionals and specialists your child may need are brought together through our Spina Bifida Program.
CHOP's interdisciplinary Spina Bifida Program is dedicated to lifelong follow-up care for children with spina bifida, with specialists available to work with children throughout their life. This focus on long-term management of spina bifida with dedicated care and counseling is important to improve the quality of life and outcomes for these patients.
The setting of the spina bifida clinic also allows the team at CHOP to continue to learn from patients' experiences and progress, and to utilize that knowledge to continue to enhance the lives of other spina bifida patients and their families.
