This step by step tutorial will show you how to draw and paint a dog (poodle) using watercolors. All you need are basic watercolor supplies. This tutorial will go over how to create the texture of fur and layer watercolors, as well as how to use simple shapes to draw a dog. I have had a ton of requests for a pet portrait and the photo of this dog, Roxie, was emailed to me by one of you:) You can alter this dog so it looks more like a different breed easily. I think it ended up looking a bit like my old dog Ladie... a cocker spaniel. Sorry about the lighting in the beginning, I had my camera on auto... still working out the bugs on new equipment. This is a great tutorial for beginners, enjoy!

Supplies
Watercolor Set
Watercolor paint brush (Round #10)
Watercolor paper
Pencil (I used a sketch and wash pencil)
eraser
Water in a container
Paper towel
scratch piece of paper

Optional Assignment
After learning this technique, take your own photo of a pet (yours or someone else) and paint it using what you learned in this tutorial.
