Great Southern Rail Combined Overland & Indian Pacific Passenger Trains (12/4/2012) - PoathTV

On Thursday 12 April 2012 the Great Southern Rail (GSR) Sydney to Perth "Indian Pacific" passenger train 4SP8 was diverted from its usual Sydney to Adelaide segment of the route and instead traveled via Melbourne where it was combined with the Melbourne to Adelaide 5MA8 "Overland" passenger train for the run to Adelaide. The Indian Pacific had been diverted due to a train derailment blocking the western NSW line.

GSR (now Journey Beyond Rail Expeditions) operates four long distance Australian passenger trains - The Ghan, Indian Pacific, The Overland and The Great Southern.

Location:  Little River approaching Lara (Victoria, Geelong region), 12/4/2012 10am      
Locomotives: NR26 (Indian Pacific) + DL39 + NR49, 34 carriages
