Three scenes of NSW Countrylink passenger trains passing Metford station. First we see a 5 carriage Xplorer (aka Explorer) diesel railcar set, then XPT's pass by within minutes of each other.

The XPT has been in service since 1982, and is based on the InterCity 125 (or Class 43) design used by British Rail. The Xplorer trains entered service in 1993 and are similar to CityRail's Endeavour railcars.  XPT services operate between Sydney - Melbourne, Sydney - Casino, Sydney - Brisbane, Sydney - Grafton and Sydney - Dubbo. The Xplorer railcars operate to many destinations in country NSW.

Auscision Models have recently announced they will be producing a highly detailed HO scale model of the XPT passenger train, details can be found on their website http://www.auscisionmodels.com.au/ . Powerline Models have announced they will be producing the Xplorer railcars in HO scale.
