In this episode, I'll gonna take you to on a tour throughout the Castle of Celorico da Beira, and also the history and legend.
There is part of the history.
In the 12th century, the region of Celorico had just been concord by D. Afonso Henriques (the first king of Portugal) who ordered the construction of a castle in that town.
In 1198 the castle was sieged by the tropes of the king of Spain, D. Afonso IX of Leon. The people of Linhares de Beira came in rescue to safe there brothers of Celorico da Beira.
On June 16, 1910, the castle was classified as a national monument, with an irregular oval floor plan, the castle features elements of the Romanesque and Gothic style.

If you're thinking of visiting the castle you should leave your car in the village. Don't try to bring the car to the entrance of the castle.
You don't pay to get in and the castle is open 24 hours, the tower (Castle Keep) opens at 10a.m and closes at 5p.m.
