Palestinian detainee Israa Jaabis arrived
Palestinian detainee Israa Jaabis arrived home in occupied East Jerusalem after her release from an Israeli jail.
Before her release, Israeli police imposed several restrictions, including no celebrations on her release and the evacuation of all journalists from her home to not cover the first moments of her release.
Jaabis spent seven years in an Israeli jail on an 11-year sentence.
On October 11, 2015, Jaabis was on her way home in Jerusalem when her car faced an electrical malfunction, causing the gas cylinder to explode and the vehicle to catch fire. This tragic incident resulted in third-degree burns covering most of her body, including severe damage to her face and hands.
Israeli authorities accused Jaabis of wanting to carry out a "terror attack", a charge she denies.
Jaabis was on the list of 39 Palestinian women and children scheduled to be released from Israeli jails as part of a second batch of a prisoner swap deal with Hamas.
