The footwork in doubles is very different compared to singles. Double players usually don't have to cover long distances but they need a lot more jumps and have shorter time in between the shots. Therefore they need to recover fast after the jumps and have to be ready with the racket, regarding to flat shots.

The word "box" means the area between the serviceline and the doubleservice line, so a court without the front and the back. Games and exercises in that area usually lead to a flat and fast game, so it is ideal for double players.

This multishuttleexercise should help players at being faster in movements that are relevant for doubles and especially have higher hitting points in the midcourt. Already a few centimeters in height can decide if you can play the shuttle down and remain/get into attack or if you have to lift and give the attack away. In this exercise you should always try to be as high as possible, when the feeder plays a softer flat shot, to get better in that area and ultimatly put more pressure on your opponents in doubles.

Multishuttleexercises can be extremly useful for speedtraining because you can force the player to go maximum speed. If you want to do speedtraining with exercises like this, do it in the beginning of your session when you are still fresh and fast, do not use more than 10 shuttles and take a long rest after every round (work rest ratio around 1:5)

If you want to go more for endurance take more shuttles, decrease the intensity and also shorten the breaks in relation to the time on court (work rest ratio around 1:1-3). The good thing about endurance training with multishuttle exercises is, that you can easily  manage the intesity as well as the work and rest time.
