“Small towns give a will and keep the fighting spirit inside you alive. I was born and brought up in Lucknow. The city of Nawabs and the mecca of delicious kebabs. I grew up experiencing a beautiful culture, that time and beyond shaped my personality. My grandfather used to take me to Gurudwara every Sunday. I came across a section where they used to cook langar and I found my comfort there. One day, I was asked to cook because the lady who used to cook ‘Gudh wale Chaawal; (Jaggery Rice) had gone to visit her mother. I was really not confident but I had lived it every Sunday for so many years. The repetitiveness of experiencing the langar being made so many times, it subconsciously made a divine impact on me. So, on that Sunday I cooked my first dish ever and since then I’m fondly called a ‘Langari!’

A small town boy who went on to become the youngest executive chef in India, at the age of 25. Extremely dedicated to the craft of making quality food, he set on his journey with nothing but sheer honest effort. From being a world-class chef to now being a public figure with an insane following on his YouTube Channel, he comes across as a storyteller inside the mind and hands of a cook. Sharing his childhood memories, the impact and learnings, the divinity associated with him being a cook and how he found a perfect partner and a better cook in his wife, Ranver Brar cooks and speaks magic.

Now with his multiple acting projects coming along, him building forward his career as a chef globally and yet maintaining a balance as a husband and a father, this episode is simply an awe-inspiring dish.

About Humans of Bombay –
Humans of Bombay is a movement that started 8 years ago. We believe that every person has a story to tell and we want to help them tell these stories. In these years we’ve published stories across genres – stories of love, hope, faith and courage. And through our storytelling, we’ve built an engaged community of over 4.5M!

Our idea is simple – to strike a chord with our community and catalogue the beat of humanity, one story at a time.
