Box jumps are a plyometric exercise that involves jumping with both feet at the same time onto a raised surface.

In addition to strengthening the quads, hamstrings, glutes, calves, and core, this exercise builds explosive power, improves athletic performance, and increases core strength, stability, and coordination.

You can start by jumping onto smaller platforms and gradually increase the height of the surface.

How To Do A Box Jump
1. Stand facing the box or platform around 3-6 inches away (the higher the box, the further away), feet between hip and shoulder width apart.
2. Bend your knees and sink your hips down as if you were performing a squat and swing your arms behind you.
3. Explode up and jump up off both feet while swinging your arms to help propel you forward. Tuck your knees towards your chest to help clear the height of the box.
4. Land on the balls of both feet, allowing the heels to follow naturally.
5. Push up through the heels to standing and step off the box onto the floor.
6. Repeat for desired reps.
