Cobra pose is a yoga backbend that stretches the chest, shoulders and abdomen and can build strength in the back, shoulders, and arms. It’s a great stretch to counteract long periods of sitting and can help to improve posture and back pain. In this video, Personal Trainer and Yoga Teacher Ryan demonstrates how to do cobra pose.

How To Do Cobra Pose
1. Lie down on your stomach with legs extended behind you with feet hip width apart, palms on the floor by your shoulders.
2. Engage your core by tensing the abdominal muscles to bring your belly button towards your spine.
3. Push through your palms to lift your upper body off the floor, aiming to extend the arms fully while maintaining a slight bend in the elbows. Depending on your flexibility, you may not be able to reach full extension.
4. Keep your shoulders relaxed and down away from your ears and focus on squeezing the back muscles to pull yourself deeper into the position.
5. Hold for a few breaths or repeat for reps.
