The «Wild Ducks» detachment began
The «Wild Ducks» detachment began to operate in the Kyiv region from the first days of the war. According to them, the fighters organized as soon as the occupiers reached the town of Makariv, located 30 km from Kyiv.
The unit included those who already had combat experience or served in special forces. The «Wild Ducks» did not immediately enter the battle in Makariv: the first enemy column was let through the settlement so as not to endanger the local population. In addition, they did not have anti-tank weapons for combat at the initial stage.
Thus the unit found itself (and began to operate) behind the enemy lines. In particular, the fighters reported the movement of Russian columns to the Armed Forces of Ukraine: they saw Russians from a minimum distance. And thanks to good knowledge of the area, they could approach enemy positions closely.
«Wild Ducks» held its first fight on the outskirts of Makariv. At first, the occupiers' camp was shelled by artillery. Then Joint forces advanced, including the «Wild Ducks», destroying the military personnel and enemy military hardware. The burnt cars are still lying there. In the background of that battle, the fighters talk about their warpath and their enemies' actions.
Among all the other things, «Wild Ducks» fighters complain that the aggressors chaotically fired civilians while evacuating in columns. In particular, they remember how on the outskirts of Makariv, at the crossroad, a Russian APV shot a civilian car with a couple of older people. And in the settlements, the occupiers raped women and tortured men. Because of such cases, the «Wild Ducks» call this blood war and promise to fight until victory. The soldiers call reclaiming the occupied and annexed territories and restoring Ukraine's territorial integrity a victory.
