I show IAC valve testing using an active scan tool. IAC valve not working well? This one active scan test to conduct. I use the Autel MaxiPRO MP808TS. The idle air control (IAC) valve is also known as the idle control valve, idle control actuator and the IAC actuator. It is good to note that although an IAC valve may not have failed completely, it may not respond well to ECU commands. In essence, you may not have a check engine light (CEL) on account of a bad IAC valve, yet the IACV could be operating below optimum. You may even have the odd situation of rough idle no check engine light. A bad IACV will lead to rough idling, a high or low idle or stalling under load (like when the AC is turned on. My car, a 2003 Accord, has a slight vibration at red lights with the AC on. This prompted me to conduct an active test (bidirectional test) using my active scan tool (Autel MaxiPRO MP808TS). I use a vibration measurement tool to objectively show the level of vibration at idle with no load, at idle with the AC on, and finally, AC on with the transmission engaged.
