Eye Stroke, retinal artery occlusion, retinal vein occlusion. What causes it and what are the symptoms?

The Retina, is the thin layer of tissue at the back of the eyeball.
It contains cells that are sensitive to light, both black and white, as well as colored, allowing us to see.

The retina requires a fresh supply of blood from its arteries and veins.

If these stop working, or become blocked by a clot, or a narrowing of the blood vessel, it could result in an eye stroke.

This can cause swelling, and vision loss.

There are various types of eye strokes, such as:

Central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO): The retina's main vein becomes blocked.

Central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO): The retina's central artery becomes blocked.

Branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO): The retina's small veins become blocked.

Branch retinal artery occlusion (BRAO): The retina's small arteries become blocked.

Although an eye stroke is usually painless, there are some other symptoms to be aware of, which include.

loss of peripheral vision.
blind spots.
Floaters.
or blurry vision.
