What to do if your
What to do if your pet African Grey parrot lays an egg! Most people experience shock, especially if they thought their bird was a male. However, even people who know their bird is a female are still stunned. Female Greys can lay eggs without a male present. Absent any signs of illness or trauma which would require immediate veterinary attention, here is what to expect and what you can do to help your bird in this new phase of her life.
Most greys lay between 2-4 eggs per clutch. Let her sit on the eggs until she loses interest. Keep in mind, removing the eggs as she lays them will just cause her to lay more! Let her keep her own eggs or replace with marble dummy eggs!
