Women in Innovation - Shakardokht Jafari

Shakar Jafari, founder of Trueinvivo, received Innovate UK’s Women in Innovation award in 2016.

After losing her father to cancer, Shakar discovered that more than 50% of cancer treatment was unsuccessful. Inspired by this, Shakar devised an innovative radiation detection system using silicon beads to measure radiotherapy dosage, improving the quality and reducing the cost of treatment.

Since winning the award, Shakar has completed research for the system. Trueinvivo has attracted its first investor and hired 4 additional staff. Shakar also received a scientific award for successful women of Afghanistan.
