We can workaround banking apps that force close and do not work even when we have root access with the help of Magisk.

I have the Pixel 8 here and today I'll be showing you the two things you need to setup so that restrictive banking apps work again on this device even when it has been rooted with Magisk.

This will help fix banking apps on the base model that I have here, but will also work on the larger Google Pixel 8 Pro as well.
I'll be using this app as an example here, but this will work with just about all of those stubborn apps that error out or force close on a rooted Pixel 8 series device.
After this video, we'll be able to use banking apps like this again.
So the first thing you must do is get the smartphone to pass a SafetyNet test successful.
There are free apps that will do this test for you, and show you the result.
And if you have just finished rooting your Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro, then you'll actually end up failing this test.
Now, if you want banking apps to work again, you must get your phone to pass these tests.
I have already done an entire video showing how to pass SafetyNet checks with this specific device.
So if you're failing these tests then I recommend watching the video that's already up on my channel and following all of the steps I mention.
I'll be sure to include a link to that complete guide down in the video description below.
Once you complete that process, and your phone is passing these tests again, you can follow the rest of this video.
So even though we're passing SafetyNet checks, we still can't use some of these more stubborn banking apps.
Which means we then need to go into the Magisk app to make a few other changes.
After the app has been opened, tap the gear icon in the top right corner so that we can access the Settings area.
From here, you will want to scroll down until you see the Magisk section.
Then you'll want to enable the toggle for the Enforce DenyList feature.
But, after it has been enabled, we must also configure the DenyList as well.
So we're going to tap this option and then begin looking for the banking app that we're having trouble with.
Since we're using the SNB app as the example here today, we'll find that app in the list.
Tap the app to expand all of its child processes and then tap the checkbox for the application itself.
You'll then want to make sure we're hiding Magisk from all processes that we see here.
So make sure the toggle is enabled for all the ones that you see.
Different banking apps will use different app processes so you may not see any listed here. . .or you may see way more than three.
Either way, we want to make sure all of them are denied access to Magisk.
And once this has been setup properly, we simply need to reboot the Google Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro for the changes to take effect.
With the smartphone booted back up, let's check out the SNB banking app again.
And we can see that it is finally opening up properly.
So after a little tinkering, you will be able to get just about every banking app working even though it has been rooted with Magisk.
Let me know if you end up running into any issues with this process, or if you have found a banking app that this does not fix.
There will inevitably be some that use more clever ways of detecting Magisk, which will always be a cat/mouse game with the Android community.
