Going down the line is a great play as long as 3 conditions are met
1. You are up inside the court
2. Your opponent is out of position
3. You like the ball that was hit to you
One mistake people make is they go down the line when they are on DEFENSE. Not only does this lead to more errors, but you're left out of position for your next shot.
