Most of the time I see DSC users run their sample from room temperature to way above the melting point, at a single heating rate. They then don't look at the data until a report is needed. Is this a good idea? Absolutely not! By recording your DSC measurements in this way you are making your life much harder. It's SO MUCH BETTER to think about experimental design before you make any analysis, and run your sample more than once. Here, we look at a number of tips for best practice in DSC, to enable you to interpret your data properly!
