The EZ Prep 1 bur I call the donut bur, provides both an easy to create depth cut and rapid and efficient tooth removal at the same time. With practice, this step should take no more than 30 seconds.
Lets take a quick look at the bur. The thickness of the EZ Prep bur is 1.5mm. Now lets look at the tooth.
The thickness of the crown on the occlusal surface is .55mm. A common misconception is that it is thickness of the crown that determines the amount of reduction needed. However this idea is inaccurate - because zirconia doesn’t flex, it is the distance from the cusp tip to the depth of the central fossa that determines how much you will need to   cremove to get the crown to seat.
