How to Use SUMIF and SUMIFS in Excel (FULL TUTORIAL with examples including wildcards and dates)

Use Excel's SUMIF function when you need to add up numbers that match one or more conditions. For example "add up the numbers in A1:A60 but only where C1:C60 contains Mike" or to put it another way, "how many hours did Mike work last quarter?"

Combine multiple SUMIF functions within the same formula to answer questions like "what was the combined revenue for Product A, Product B and Product C"

The SUMIFS function is used when you have multiple criteria and all criteria need to be satisfied (a logical AND). For example "how many goals did my soccer team score in home matches in the Premier League in April 2022?"

In addition to explaining and demonstrating the difference between SUMIF and SUMIFS, this video covers the special syntax for dates, how to sum within a range of numeric values and date values (i.e. between) and how to use wildcard characters (partial matches).
