The 2022 Kawasaki Ultra 310 supercharged Jet Ski range has been unveiled ahead of showroom arrivals next year.

It’s the biggest change to Kawasaki’s flagship model in 14 years, with a long list of industry first features and technology.

After a decade in the Jet Ski wilderness – with industry insiders questioning Kawasaki’s future in the sport – the company has reaffirmed its commitment by investing heavily in the biggest change to its supercharged flagship in 14 years.

The upgrades to the 2022 Kawasaki Ultra 310 – the pinnacle of the Kawasaki line-up – go beyond the futuristic styling.

With the changes come price hikes that follow similar increases for the new Sea-Doo and Yamaha models.

There are three variants.

Starting with the Ultra 310X from $17,199 US

The newly named middle of the range Ultra 310LX-S from $18,199 US

And the flagship of the fleet, the Ultra 310LX from $19,199 US.

These price points position the Kawasaki Ultra 310 range alongside top end rivals from Sea-Doo and Yamaha.

Australian prices are due to be announced closer to local showroom arrivals.

Based on current exchange rates, the 2022 Kawasaki Ultra 310 range is expected to cost between $25,000 and $30,000 in Australia not including trailer and registration.

As with delays for Sea-Doo and Yamaha, Kawasaki dealers are bracing themselves for a long wait.

Highlights include:

The first completely new Kawasaki Ultra top deck in 14 years

A rear deck extension for the top two models

Rear accessories similar to Sea-Doo and Yamaha

Side fairings are now storage pods

Height-adjustable seats

Four-speaker audio

Rear-view camera

LED daytime running lights

A 7-inch digital display screen

A GPS speed readout for the first time

Smartphone connectivity

An infotainment controller dial

Launch control with automatic trim adjustment

Four performance modes

And a more comfortable seating position with a lower centre of gravity

While Sea-Doo and Yamaha have reverse triggers on the left handlebar and an accelerator on the right handlebar, the 2022 Kawasaki Ultra 310 models instead have two triggers on the right handlebar.

With a thumb trigger for reverse.

While the top deck is new from the bond line up, there are two lengths.

The 2022 Kawasaki Ultra 310X has a standard length deck, while the LX models have a rear deck extension that adds 7.9-inches or an extra 20cm.

For now, the changes only apply only to the 2022 Kawasaki Ultra 310 supercharged range.

The non-supercharged Ultra LX continues with the same design introduced in 2007.

It’s expected that model will get an overhaul in 2023 or beyond.

The Kawasaki Ultra 310’s sponsons and heavy-duty SMC fibreglass hull are believed to be unchanged.

While the 310 horsepower supercharged engine

And 160mm jet pump nozzle remain unchanged

But the new model promises better performance thanks to the top deck’s lower centre of gravity, and the option of launch control for the first time.

The first reviews of the new Kawasaki Ultra 310 aren’t due until late in 2021 or early 2022.

In the meantime, it seems the loyalty of Kawasaki fans is about to be rewarded after years of minimal changes

And Kawasaki seems well positioned to make up lost ground in the highly competitive Jet Ski market.
