Salting pilchards is the best way to preserve pilchards so they can last a full session without turning to mush!
These pilchards when salted correctly for up to 3-4 days can actually last for a week without refrigeration,  as long as they are in a cool place.
The pilchards will rehydrate when put back into the water.
Great for a long weekend
