Learn how to create 2D models from 3D geometries in COMSOL Multiphysics with the Cross Section feature, available with version 4.3b. By taking cross sections of 3D CAD models, you can run fast what-if studies in 2D to save time and computer memory. Step-by-step, we walk you through how to create a cross section from a Work Plane in a 3D model, adding a 2D model, then using the cross section as the 2D geometry.

The Shell-and-Tube Heat Exchanger model shown in the video can be found in our Model Gallery: http://www.comsol.com/shell-tube-heat.... If you have a COMSOL Access account, you can download the model files and recreate the model on your own. (And if you don't, it's free and easy to set up an account, http://www.comsol.com/access/).
