Metroid Fusion's "Worst" Feature is Actually Genius

I wanted to make a video about Metroid Fusion, so I did. It's pure coincidence that the Game Boy Advance game just came to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, because I don't have the add-on. I'm happy with the base NSO, and I'm happy owning a GBA and a cartridge, which remains my prefered way of playing games from this era.

Anyway, Metroid Fusion is a game that most people like well enough, but I've heard enough people complaining over the years about its linearity and signposting that I just felt the need to say, actually, no. These things are not a problem. These things perfectly build up the atmosphere and tension that the game is trying to community.

Unlike previous adventures, Samus Aran is not a bold bounty hunter space adventurer. She's a victim. A protagonist in a horror story. Someone who has to run and hide. This game, more than any other Metroid, is designed to make you feel small and weak and powerless. One of the ways it does that is by refusing to give you control. You've got to do what you're told... at least, until what you're told to do stops making any sense.

These are my own thoughts on the game and they're completely subjective, so feel free to disagree with me, it's all good. Just don't assume that I don't a) recognise that other perspectives on this game are valid, and b) think I'm an expert on this subject. I'm just one ill-informed weirdo yelling at the void. I'm not looking for the void to get aggro in return.

Anyways, have a lovely day.
