Goan Samarachi Kodi or Sambarachi Kodi is a monsoon favourite among many Goan villagers. This curry is usually cooked at ‘Bhikran Jevon’ (a tradition where a meal is served to the lesser privileged in the neighbourhood by the family of a bride/groom). Goan life just reflects in this curry— available and local ingredients, blended together with love to serve you with a delicious, mouth-watering curry. Although some people roast the spices (and add other spices too), this recipe is one I picked up from my sister and we just love how it turns out! The saltiness of the dried prawns, with the right hit of tang from the sour raw mangoes, and the wonderful blend of spices and coconut in the curry paste— they all add up to a perfectly simple yet rich curry 😋
